Designer Richard Sias was brought to the team to redesigned the Charger for the 1968 model. Sias developed a double-diamond coke bottle profile. Indeed, one could argue that this restyling was the main reason for the Dodge Charger's sales success. Indeed, the new Charger was one of the best looking muscle cars. The sales figures for the Charger were projected at 20,000 units, but actual number of units produced that year was over 96,000. The Charger featured a 318 cubic inch standard engine, which was then replaced by a 225 cubic unit slant-six.
