Bentleys Today and Yesterday

We've all seen a Bentley that has blown us away at some point or another. The sleek design of these cars seem to scream out luxury whenever you pass one on the streets. Bentleys weren't always has elegant as they are now, in fact the Bentley car company started out as something else completely.

The birth of the Bentley car franchise happened in 1912 when the Bentley brothers bought another French car company and changed the names. In the beginning the brothers tried to come up with various airplane designs to help out with World War I, but this didn't take the two of them very far. In 1920 they released their first car model and, well, its all history from there.

During the 1920s Bentleys were primarily used in many different races. As the times changed the engines of car got bigger and faster making the Bentley company struggle to keep up with the changing times. Finally, they did make a break through and made a name for themselves in the racing community.

In 1930 Rolls Royce bought out the Bentley company and the company fell under a dark spell for several years. It wasn't until the 1980s that Bentley began to make a name for itself once more. When the Bentley Mulsanne Turbo this company started to get recognized for its amazing craftsmanship once again.

In the 1990s Rolls Royce made a deal with BMW to help supply engines to their vehicles. This would be the turning point of the Bentley company as BMW decided to invest a billion dollars in the Bentley company to get it away from the Rolls Royce franchise.

Today Bentley creates beautiful and fast cars that are appealing to many people looking at the car market. Whether you own a Bentley or are looking into buy one, the history of this headstrong company might show you the love and compassion put into the cars they sell.
